Saturable reactors
Application
The saturable reactors are intended for stepless voltage adjustment of high power diode rectifier sets.
Control units comprised by the delivery set, fulfils the following functions:
- remote and local current setting;
- stabilization of preset current value;
- control of working range of saturable reactors;
- overload protection of rectifier units;
- current measuring of rectifier set;
- uniform current load of rectifier units.

The ratings and connection dimensions of the saturable reactors are agreed upon with the Customer at the time of concluding contract.
Delivery set:
- saturable reactors – to suit the number of rectifier units in the set;
- control device – one for rectifier set;
- maintenance kit;
- service documentation.
Tests and adjustment
Upon winding and annealing the cores are subject to sorting out with further rejection according to identity of their magnetic characteristics. The saturable reactors and control units are subject to insulation resistance check; to commercial frequency high voltage test; to rated current load tests; check for limits of bias and control current regulation; setting interior loops of control current regulation; overload protection setting; threshold setting of on – load tap – changer (ONTC) automatic operation.
